Washington, D.C. – Today Congressman John Linder (GA-07) provided the following statement regarding H.R. 4351, The AMT Patch:

“I have had the opportunity to vote for a number of AMT ‘patches’ in previous years that protected my constituents from facing this additional tax, and I am certainly willing to do so again.  However, I am not willing to ‘pay for it’ by raising other taxes.  The tax code is so complex that it often results in unintended tax consequences such as the current AMT threat to the middle class, and this debacle confirms the need for comprehensive tax reform.  The President and Senate have been very clear that the solution to prevent this massive tax increase is not to raise taxes, and I agree.  The bill the Democrat-Majority has put forth today only delays a resolution to this crippling tax increase and further jeopardizes the American taxpayer.”
